Building community is the foundation of successful learning. Here are just a few of the ways community is built in Room 11!
Learning how to be respectful is an important piece of our learning community. You can support our learning and understanding of Respect in the classroom by talking to your child about what Respect looks like at home and in the community.

The possibilities are endless! Our learning environment supports all learners interests. Children are encouraged to create and explore while learning.

At the beginning of the school year we will learn about the Wrinkled Heart. Children learn that when you wrinkle up a heart, even when you try to flatten it back, it never takes its original form. This lesson teaches the importance of kindness. Each child will sign a bandaid, come up with an act of kindness, and then put their bandaid on our classroom heart. We will begin to refer to this daily and children will start to use the language "you're wrinkling my heart" if their feelings get hurt.

Our Class Pet!
We have a new class pet, a Beta fish named Grace. Students are learning about Animals and Habitats in Unit 2 and this real life experience will help them learn so much about fish! |
The "Feelings Check-In" board.
Your child uses a picture of themselves and places it under where they are feeling. This board opens up a dialogue not only between teacher and student, but also between student and student.
